The DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2 shares the AK4191EQ and AK4499EXEQ conversion stage, 8.6-inch touchscreen and separated linear and digital power supplies of the standard A8 Gen 2, and changes the timing section. An oven-controlled crystal oscillator held at a stable operating temperature keeps jitter below 50 femtoseconds, working with phase-locked loop circuitry to synchronise the clock signal, and a 10MHz external clock input allows an outboard reference to take over. The chassis is correspondingly taller at 98.5mm and the unit weighs 6kg.
