Rockna Audio is the work of Romanian engineer Nicolae Jitariu, who has spent his career in digital audio conversion and whose designs run deeper in this industry than the nameplate suggests. Rockna builds its converters its own way: discrete R-2R ladder DACs driven by in-house FPGA code, refined generation after generation rather than bought off a chip catalog.
The range is digital, front to back: the Wavedream DACs in Edition and Signature grades, the Wavedream NET server and CD transport, and the more approachable Wavelight DAC and Wavelight Server. At the top sit the Wavedream Reference and the statement Wavedream Reference Signature — a DAC and network renderer built around four discrete R-2R FPGA-driven converter modules.
