Matrix Audio

Matrix Audio began with three high-school classmates in Xi'an who built their first speakers together in the summer of 2001. In 2006, out of university, they founded Matrix Electronic Technology and registered the Matrix Audio name. The brand takes its name from the mathematical matrix — built in two dimensions — and the company judges its products the same way, in two dimensions: how they sound and how they look.

What sets Matrix Audio apart is that the software is theirs. MA Player, the company's Linux-based Hi-Fi streaming system, and the MA Remote App that controls it are developed entirely in-house, alongside the hardware. Most models are Roon Ready and carry TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay 2, so the streaming experience is consistent from the smallest desktop unit to the flagship separates.

The range runs from the M Series — the flagship system of the MS-1 streamer, MP-1 Class A preamplifier, and MA-1 power amplifier — through the N Series desktop separates, to a family of network products built specifically for audio: switches, an optical network isolator, and the SC-1 10MHz reference clock. Today the company works with more than 200 partners in over 50 countries.
