TEAC has been building audio equipment in Tokyo since 1953. Generations of studios and audiophiles knew the company through its tape machines; disc-era listeners know it for VRDS, the clamping CD-drive mechanism TEAC engineered to read discs with mechanical authority. Today's Reference series carries that engineering into compact components sized for modern rooms without giving up full-sized ambition.

The range here covers the Reference 700 and 500 series — DACs, network players, amplification, phono and headphone stages, and CD sources — plus the TN turntable line. On our demonstration floor:
