The VR.fifty, formerly the VR-55 Mk II SE, brings the driver complement of Von Schweikert's Ultra series to a more compact full-range design: dual 8.5-inch ceramic woofers, the company's underhung ceramic midrange, a beryllium tweeter, and a rear-firing ribbon ambient-retrieval tweeter for a wide listening area. The drivers are housed in critically damped multi-layer composite enclosures finished in multi-coat automotive paint. It is available fully passive or with the Foundation Hybrid Bass System, which adds an 800-watt woofer amplifier while keeping the entire signal path in the analog crossover network.
