The UD-701N heads TEAC's Reference 700 series, combining a USB DAC, network player, analog preamplifier, and headphone amplifier in one full-width chassis. Conversion is handled by a pair of TEAC's own "TRDD 7" discrete delta-sigma DACs rather than an off-the-shelf DAC chip, with support for 22.5MHz DSD and 384kHz/32-bit PCM. Line outputs are switchable between fixed and variable level so it can drive a power amplifier directly, a 4-pin XLR jack provides balanced headphone output, and a BNC input accepts a 10MHz external master clock. It is Roon Ready and includes Bluetooth reception with LDAC, LHDC, and aptX HD.
