The VRDS-701 is a CD player built to commemorate TEAC's 70th anniversary, carrying a newly developed VRDS mechanism — the company's drive system that clamps the disc to a same-diameter aluminum turntable to raise inertial mass and suppress rotational vibration. The DAC section uses TEAC's "TRDD 7" discrete delta-sigma converter instead of a conventional DAC IC, and the player fully decodes MQA-CDs. A USB input accepting 22.5MHz DSD and 384kHz/32-bit PCM, switchable fixed and variable outputs, a headphone output, and a 10MHz clock input extend it beyond a conventional CD player.
