The TecnoDec is Michell's entry-level turntable and carries over several designs developed for the larger GyroDec, including the vibration-damping impedance-matched platter, the inverted oil-circulating main bearing, and a free-standing motor unit machined from a solid billet of aircraft-grade aluminium. In use the only connection between the motor and the rest of the turntable is the drive belt itself, keeping motor vibration away from the record and stylus. Sorbothane feet isolate the unsuspended plinth from the supporting surface.
