The PE-505 is a fully balanced phono equalizing amplifier that keeps the cartridge signal in differential form through every stage, from head amplifier to output buffer. It takes MM and MC cartridges on RCA plus MC on a balanced XLR input, with switchable load impedance, a load-resistance measuring function, high and low gain, and a DEMAG position that demagnetizes MC cartridges. The NF-type equalizer holds RIAA deviation within ±0.05dB, and DECCA and COLUMBIA curves for pre-1955 records are provided alongside RIAA.
