The NA-1 is the headphone amplifier of Matrix Audio's N Series desktop separates system, a fully discrete, fully balanced pure Class A design that also works as a preamplifier. Balanced output power reaches 18 watts into 33 ohms through 6.35mm, 4.4mm, and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs, while XLR and RCA pre-outs with selectable +15dB or +21dB gain feed a power amplifier or active speakers. Volume is set by a motor-driven quad-unit ALPS Type 27 potentiometer, and the preamp circuit runs from 60V rails. One balanced and two single-ended inputs allow three sources to stay connected.
