The Wavedream Edition is the standard version of Rockna's Wavedream D/A converter, using the company's RD-1 conversion modules — discrete sign-magnitude hybrid ladder DACs with a 26-bit structure, each driven by its own FPGA and capable of sample rates up to 6MHz. All digital processing runs on a single FPGA, so firmware updates change the hardware architecture itself, and the Femtovox clock system synthesizes the conversion clock directly at the DAC input with around 300 femtoseconds of jitter. Custom 16x Parks-McClellan upsampling filters offer linear, minimum, and hybrid phase responses, power comes from three transformers and twenty linear regulators with no switch-mode supplies, and a 256-step volume control allows direct connection to a power amplifier.
