The Wavedream Reference is Rockna's flagship D/A converter, introduced a decade after the original Wavedream that defined the company. An AMD Zynq SoC running custom Rockna firmware handles master control and the network renderer, while four FPGAs each drive one phase of the discrete conversion system — four RD-1 MK2 R2R DAC modules with 27-bit combined switching, clocked by the Femtovox 2 clock manager through an ASRC-free digital PLL. The fully discrete class A output stage combines JFET and bipolar devices, and the renderer is integrated natively into the SoC rather than added as a separate streamer board, with Roon bridge, UPnP, OpenHome, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, HQPlayer NAA, Squeezelite, and Diretta support. Control is by front-panel touchscreen, metal infra-red remote, or iOS and Android apps.
