The Wavedream Signature is the higher of the two versions of Rockna's Wavedream D/A converter, fitted with the company's RD-0 conversion modules — discrete sign-magnitude hybrid ladder DACs with a 27-bit structure, each driven by its own FPGA and capable of sample rates up to 6MHz. The entire digital section lives on a single FPGA, so firmware updates change the hardware architecture itself, and the Femtovox clock system synthesizes the conversion clock directly at the DAC input with around 300 femtoseconds of jitter. Custom 16x Parks-McClellan upsampling filters offer linear, minimum, and hybrid phase responses, the class A output stage is built entirely from through-hole JFET and bipolar devices, and a 256-step volume control allows direct connection to a power amplifier.
