The Wavelight Server is an audiophile music server styled to match the Wavelight DAC and designed as a source for any DAC, particularly one with an I2S input. A low-power computing system running custom Linux pairs with an AMD 7-series FPGA audio engine that handles PCM-to-DSD transcoding and upsampling to DSD512 in hardware, keeping CPU load, heat, and RF emissions low, with two CCHD957 clocks and a linear power supply built on two toroidal transformers. Internal storage runs from 2TB to 16TB, supplemented by three USB ports and NAS support, and the unit can act as server core, renderer, or endpoint under Roon Server, MPD, Roon Bridge, UPnP AV, OpenHome, HQPlayer NAA, or AirPlay. Control is through a web interface or the Android and iOS apps, and both the operating system and the FPGA audio hardware update over the internet.
